Some people think that reading a book is better than watching the film of the book because when the book is adapted to film the writers omit a lot of important parts.
In my opinion, the book is ever better than the film because a book of 500 pages can't be all in 2 hours and when they do the script cut parts of the book that sometimes are necesary to understand the plot.
Futhermore, when you read a book, you make your own imatge of the characters and you have more freedom to the imagination.
In conclusion, the books are ever better than the films. If you want to see a film, read the book before.
